I'm guessing they know.
But really it's not not going to help attract customers if you are located on the beach strip trying to pry tourists away from the night markets across the road.
In December 2023 I had the opportunity to add to my exploration of the Philippines. A week away tacked onto a work trip. Within this week I planned out a one side destination trip. Just one island, one day trip. So that I wasn't overwhelmed. And well acknowledging there may be other opportunities for more trips later. Yes the prior trip had physically broken me. I'm no longer 25. I chose Coron Island over El Nido. Not because I knew it'd be better. I had seen enough videos comparing the 2 destinations to figure out you'd be okay whichever you choose. Both are a part of the Palawan region. I chose Coron Island because I could fly out of there easier on the time frames I had. A week away meant I needed to be more direct, in, out, no dilly-dally. There was no time for rain delays, nor contingencies if I had to ferry elsewhere. Accommodation I had read up about had indicated that you need to be in the Town Centre if you want to walk about. And it often was overpriced and u...
In visiting London I stayed with my friend Darren. Heck Daz and I have a tradition of meeting up every time I make it to Europe. This time it was somewhat a home game for Daz. Not staying elsewhere. But it doesn't mean we didn't go elsewhere. We went to Brighton. He had friends there, and had never been to Brighton. So a short train journey for lunch and visit to Brighton Beach was put into motion. As Australians we all know that technically they don't have beaches in Britain. Either by "white sand" rule, or "it's not warm enough to be considered going to a beach" rule. Look those rules up if you want. Yes maybe I made them up. But it does explain why UK has so many residents in Bondi Beach. But I have proof. See these photos. This is their beach. Pebbles. And I'm not talking fine pebbles. And this is what they put on their beaches. Giant size Piers with traditional fairgrounds. Nice for tourists actually. Very nostalgic. Hence the pho...
So I was back in London just for little over 24 hours. Importantly I used this time to catch up with a friend. One who over time I see every few years. Hence it seemed fitting that we went out to Greenwich to walk around spending some time. But more importantly I visited the line.... Where longitude is counted from. Technically time is what it is. But Greenwich Royal Observatory is that special spot where time means a lot more. Where longitude is 0. And hence why we refer to worldwide time by Greenwich Mean Time. Interesting you'll also find at the observatory the gauge by which a British yard of rope is measured. But a yard today just isn't the same as it used to be. Around Greenwich there were quite a few things to do. The walk under the Thames wasn't visually inspiring. However to thing this was build so long ago it's an amazing piece of engineering. It also served as a safe haven during the Battle of Britain. Like the tube. The Cutty Sark and Navel museum as...
