Dragons and draggin'

Not much to report in terms of traveling the past few weeks. Everything is building for the big trip now.

It's been wet here. But strangely timed for the weekends. It doesn't mean perfect weekdays though. Weekdays have been overcast. Myself and a few of the other Aussies are getting to the stage where we don't believe our work colleagues when they talk about 'summer coming'. We're getting cynical say things like, 'so this is summer eh'?

It was a very mild 15 degrees here for most of Sunday. Yep 15 degrees, and that was about 2pm in the afternoon when I decided to get out into the dreary afternoon. Funny definition of summer they have here.

Ventured out Sunday to see a bit of the dragon boats. My work entered, but alas came I'm told 7th, not eighth as the naked eye would have assumed.

With the running of the Dragon Boat race comes the end of entertainment, or shalt I say diversion, when completing boot camp in the afternoons. They were the poor suckers in the boats getting yelled at on water, while we on land would plod along. The draggin' refers to myself after going through the hour long sessions I have been attending. As silly as I was to sign up, knowing fully well I would enjoy it, and gain from it, I still like to whinge about it. Leave me my joy, I paid for the privilege. Our cruel, cruel trainer takes joy in hiding behind his sunglasses just telling us to do more crunches, more lunges, and then to run up and down flights of stairs. I curse he for just smiling, and taking joy in my agony.

No guesses for whether I went to a session after work today.

The only other news of the week was that we also had a Casino Day at work. They brought in professional Casino party operators to run a party for the 100 or so finance department staff. And who better than financial analysts and accounting people to gamble I say. We were betting to increase our wealth which in turn went into tickets for a raffle. Our starting cost was a tin of food which was collected for charity. A good time was had by all. But alas I didn't win anything. I had been aiming for an Ipod. Damn gambling.

Anyways I hope everyone is keeping well. Perhaps people could send me an email to tell me the latest. After all I'm here in Vancouver away from it all. Miss you all.
